As an undergraduate research assistant, you will have the opportunity to engage with modern and historical scientific literature and learn about the role of range expansion and contraction in global biodiversity patterns. For this project, you will be expected to be detail-oriented, well organized, and open to sometimes tedious translation work. Any previous scientific reading/writing experience is a bonus, but not required! For long-term undergraduate researchers, opportunities for publication or individual research question development is available!

Team Needs:

We are seeking up to 8 undergraduate research assistants who are reliable, motivated, able to work independently, and interested in learning more about ecological niches and herpetological biogeography. Previous biological coursework is beneficial as we expect students to be able to read and interpret scientific literature. A minimum of 3-6 hours per week will be expected of all students depending on their program. |
Description:
|
In this research program you will perform a systematic literature review to determine the native range of Podarcis lizards globally. Some species in the genus Podarcis are threatened, endangered, and critically endangered, while others are globally successful invaders actively competing with these threatened species. In this review you will critically consider the literature and build out a database which will define the native and invasive range changes of these species. |
