Description:
|
Mitochondria have evolved to become activators of innate immunity, therefore, maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis through quality control mechanisms is vital in mediating the immune response. We are interested in determining how our protein of interest, SIM2, which we’ve proven to be involved in mitochondrial dynamics, influences the immune response within the mammary gland. This project will serve to advance our understanding of how mitochondrial health impacts the immune response. The goal of this research is to enhance our knowledge of how the immune system functionally contributes to normal mammary gland development to ultimately provide insight into postpartum breast cancer development. |
