Description:
Get experience conducting human subjects research and help communities be more resilient to future disasters! I am recruiting students to help me with disaster-recovery surveys in Texas and Louisiana, and North Carolina. With COVID-19 affecting the way in which we can safely conduct research, students will be helping me with phone and in-person surveys surveys to businesses and nonprofits (as safety allows). Topics include the effectiveness of the financial assistance they received, how COVID-19 has affected their recovery from previous hurricanes, and how they are preparing for the current hurricane season. Students will gain important skills related to how human subjects research is conducted, learn about disaster management in the U.S., and how what we learn from this project can help future communities facing more frequent hazards.
