Description:

Get experience conducting human subjects research and help communities be more resilient to future disasters! I am recruiting students to help me with two disaster-recovery related projects this semester in Texas and North Carolina. With COVID-19 affecting the way in which we can safely conduct research, students will be helping me recruit homeowners and businesses to take online surveys and virtual interviews. Topics include the effectiveness of the financial assistance they received, how COVID-19 has affected their recovery from previous hurricanes, and how they are preparing for the current hurricane season. Students will gain important skills related to how human subjects research is conducted and will have the opportunity to conduct surveys and participate in interviews. Students will also learn about disaster management in the U.S. and how what we learn from this project can help future communities. |
