STEM Research Leadership Program
The STEM Research Leadership Program is a professional development program for graduate students, postdocs, and junior faculty who want to develop their leadership skills while increasing their research productivity. Instead of standard 1-on-1 research apprenticeship, research is performed by a diverse undergraduate research team led by a Team Leader preparing for the next stage of a research career. Research teams are productive because they further the Team Leader’s research by leveraging each undergraduate’s unique assets (talents, skills, perspectives, and experiences). Team Leaders meet once a month to identify and develop best practices that not only increase the competencies and motivation of their teams, but also increase research productivity. This program has a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), which provides an additional mechanism to develop research collaborations, prepare broader impacts sections of NSF grants, and structure fellowship or training grants
