Texas A&M is one of the worldwide entities that are part of The IUCN Red List Partnership. Students in this project will have the great opportunity to interact with scientists in the IUCN Small Mammal Specialist Group and conservation researchers. Students will learn how to compile a scientifically rigorous IUCN Red List assessment and obtain a certification as an IUCN Red List assessor
Team Needs:
We are seeking undergraduate students who are motivated by species conservation and the process of IUCN Red List assessment. Students will be required a minimum of 6 hours per week to work in person in our IUCN assessment room. Students can enroll in 2 hours of ECCB 491 Research course
Description:
Students’ tasks involve taking IUCN Red List Assessor Training, searching literature, reviewing data sources and compiling information about species conservation status, contacting and gathering information from experts, and comprehending the IUCN assessment process. Students will be required to spend most of the time working on computers in the IUCN room
