Team Needs:
You must be able to effectively communicate with myself and the team. Once you commit to a certain schedule, it is crucial that you stick to it or find a substitute if necessary. Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders and substance abuse disorders have a lot of stigma and controversy surrounding these topics, so a judgement-free and clinical-based mindset is very important. Be curious and ask lots of questions to maximize your learning! |
Description:
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is an all too common affliction that leaves an impact on the drinkers themselves as well as subsequent generations. Our lab has shown that maternal as well as paternal drinking can have detrimental effects on their offspring. This project dives into how this epigenetic influence is occurring using antioxidant supplementation on a mouse model. We will also be exploring how each parent might contribute to their child’s predisposition to drink. |
