Spring 2023: Improving interoperability of Information models for asset intensive industries

Affiliations: STEM Research Leadership
Project Leader: Ashrant Aryal, Ph.D.
ashrantaryal@tamu.edu
Construction Science
Meeting Times:
F 1:00pm-2:00pm
Team Size:
3
Open Spots: 0
Special Opportunities:
The students will be considered for co-authorship on publications depending on the level of contribution. They will also be considered for becoming a full member of the research group and will recieve some financial support depending on performance
Team Needs:
Students with some familiarity with these software or knowledge regarding the design of refineries, chemical plants and similar systems, and students with good background on programming and working with XML files will be given preference. Students should send an email to ashrantaryal@tamu.edu with a brief description of their relevant experience and their CV
Description:
The goal of this project is to identify and resolve interoperability issues between design, construction, and operation software commonly used in asset intensive industries such as oil&gas, chemical plants, power plants etc. to support the development of open data standards. More information on interoperability can be found here: https://www.mimosa.org/open-industrial-interoperability-ecosystem-oiie/
The students will be involved in identifying interoperability issues when engineering models are transferred from one software ecosystem to another. Example software include Aveva, Intergraph, Autodesk P&ID. Students will also review current data standards to identify missing components to improve interoperability
