Healthy School Recognized Campus Program (HSRC): HSRC is a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension program that supports the delivery of school-based physical activity and nutrition programs for diverse youth across Texas. In the last year, 15 schools and over 3,500 youth participated in HSRC, which required that schools delivered 1) Walk Across Texas – an evidence-based approach for increasing physical activity – and 2) two to four other physical activity and nutrition programs for youth. The HSRC program also provides recognition via a banner and/or proclamation at the local school board meeting – an approach we have previously found effective for improving youth BMI and cardiovascular fitness in a different school recognition program |
