Description:

Drug addiction is a chronic relapsing disorder characterized by persistent use despite negative consequences. Our lab is interested in the role of habits and compulsivity in the development of addiction. One way that we model substance use in a laboratory setting is by training animals to self-administer cocaine intravenously. This project will investigate the relationship between habitual cocaine responding and compulsive drug use in female rats. Research assistants will be involved in handling rats, running daily behavior (cocaine self-administration), working with behavior software programs, and conducting brain histology |
