Opportunities include mentorship in and out of the lab, learning skills such as preparing tissue for imaging, confocal imaging, data analysis using ImageJ, mouse handling, stereotaxic surgery procedures, mouse behavior assays, good lab and documentation practices, and presentation skills
Team Needs:
We are looking for students interested in neurodegenerative diseases who are motivated and willing to learn laboratory techniques. Preference will be given to Sophomore and Freshman applicants
Description:
We are seeking to determine the role that astrocytic mitochondria play in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). To do so, we are using an adeno-associated virus (AAV) to to functionally ablate astrocytic mitochondria in the mouse Hippocampus, the brain region relevant to AD
