Health and Nature Research Leadership Program
Director: Lindsay Sansom, Ph.D., Assistant Research Professor, Texas A&M University
The Health and Nature Research Leadership Program is for junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students who want to develop their leadership skills while increasing their research productivity. This professional development program allows Team Leaders to gain research leadership and mentorship experience through recruitment of a dynamic team of undergraduate students. Team Leaders can take their research portfolio to the next level by learning to leverage their team’s unique assets (talents, skills, perspectives, and experiences) to guide research, set clear milestones, and meet research deliverables. Team Leaders also meet once a month with the Health and Nature Research Leadership Director and other Team Leaders to identify and develop best practices that not only increase the competencies and motivation of their teams, but also builds leadership and mentorship experience. This program has a focus on health and nature, which provides an additional mechanism to promote interdisciplinary research collaborations, community engagement efforts, and identifying appropriate research dissemination avenues. The Health and Nature Research Leadership Program is affiliated with the Center for Health and Nature, which is housed within the School of Public Health.
