Fall 2022: Interscholastic Athletics Heat Policies in a Changing Climate

Experience collecting national data, experiential opportunities to engage in sport ecology professional development and networking events, potential to earn conference presentation and co-authorship opportunities
Team Needs:
Interest in learning about sport ecology research; strong written and verbal communication skills; interest in policy analyses; desire to learn connections between sport, physical health, and environmental concerns.
Description:
In light of increasing heat-related deaths of high school athletes, and subsequent legal issues, this project seeks to address policy-related concerns across high school athletic associations in the U.S. Researchers will evaluate policy language, and work to uncover existing climate change understanding to protect young athletes from heat illness.
