Description:
Since the publication of Peter Singer’s seminal manifesto, Animal Liberation (1975), the field of animal ethics has evolved in unprecedented ways: drawing from emerging discoveries in ethology, developments in political theory and moral psychology, novel approaches to philosophical inquiry, etc. As part of this research program we will be mapping out this varied terrain, tracing the development of influential ideas, coming to a better understanding of where things stand now, and ultimately trying to predict what directions the conversation is headed. In the process, we will also keep an eye out for marginalized voices: approaches that diverge from the mainstream but nevertheless merit more attention than they currently receive
