This project will provide students the opportunity to become proficient in microdissection of coronary arterioles in a swine model. The data collected will likely manifest into an abstract presentation at a local conference. Team members names will be listed and team members will be given the opportunity to present (if completed).

Description:
|
This project will engage students that are motivated to expand their knowledge of cardiovascular physiology. Hydrogen peroxide signaling is crucial for proper control of coronary blood flow, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly characterized. This project aims to identify a novel mechanism by with hydrogen peroxide induces vasodilation in the coronary arterioles. Students will learn to dissect coronary arterioles and treat them ex vivo prior to analyzing protein content with standard benchtop methods. |
