As an undergraduate research assistant, you will have the opportunity to engage with and learn about one of two lizard-related research projects: lizard behavior or lizard morphology. For both projects, you will be expected to be detail-oriented, well organized, and open to learning new analytical skills and software. Any previous data analysis or behavioral software experience is a bonus! There may also be opportunities for you to present your research at local or regional conferences and, for long-term undergraduate researchers, opportunities for publication

We are seeking up to 8 undergraduate assistants who are reliable, motivated, and interested in learning more about behavior and morphology. Previous biological coursework is beneficial as we expect students to be able to understand common biological terms. A minimum of 3-6 hours per week will be expected of all students depending on their program |

Description:

This research will allow students the opportunity to participate in projects either examining lizard behavior or lizard morphology. The primary tasks you may be involved in include: (i) learning about animal behavior and anatomy, (ii) attending team meetings to coordinate our research efforts, (iii) learning to identify specific behaviors, (iv) learn how to identify scale and plate shapes, (v) use computer software to identify and record lizard behaviors, (vi) learn to process and analyze CT scans to create 3D models of lizard skeletons |
