By becoming a member of the research group, you have opportunities to interact with members of the public who are adding new data to our Atlas on a county by county basis. Students have opportunities to support development of publications, prepare posters for conferences, and have their work featured in our quarterly newsletter.Data coding, Geodatabase management, Identifying cultural resources, Cultural heritage preservation. Strong performance as a volunteer may lead to be added as a full time team member

Team Needs:

The team seeks students interested in learning about action research and the public humanities. The ideal candidate will be interested in supporting interdisciplinary research which requires communicating with diverse public partners, leveraging social media to reach prospective research subjects and educate the public. We also need students willing to support our research being conducted during workshops and special events, open to travel and engagement directly with diverse communities in public places such as museums. Student interns will also learn to market research opportunities using Canva and social media such as Instagram and Facebook. Strong candidates will be able to market and schedule meetings and public webinars via zoom. Students should be responsible, pay attention to detail, be reliable, experience working with Microsoft Excel, and and have an interest in history , culture, and heritage. An upper level undergrad preferred but not required |

Our Project seeks students interested in helping maintain and analyze contents of a Arc GIS based StoryMap and Google 1-2-3 Surveys. Support outreach, communications for research teams doing engaged research with predominately BIPOC communities spatial geocoding of locations of cemeteries, database creation, 2)adding archival material, photos, documents, and historical information to the online Atlas of historic settlements, 3) interview and record place data in online forms and over the phone for input into atlas, 4) taking photos of historic sites in the Brazos Valley for uploading to the Atlas |
