Team Needs:
We are looking for students interested in political communication, polarization, and political behaviors. We will mainly use Excel for data gathering and entry. While previous experience with Excel is a plus, it’s not required. We will provide hands-on training to familiarize everyone with the coding process.
Description:
This large data collection project is to document the evolution of the American local newspaper ecosystem at the county level from 2008 to 2020. We aim to know the number of daily and weekly newspapers published in each county, their total circulations, and how these figures have changed over the selected period. We also seek to explore whether and how trends in local newspapers influence political attitudes and behaviors among the mass public and political elites.
