Special Opportunities:
Depending on research timeline and student commitment, students engaged in our research project will have the opportunity to: publicly present research findings, learn how to collect and maintain data sets containing qualitative data, learn to search for relevant literature in the education and social sciences, and/or co-author publications.
Team Needs:
Research team members should be: a) interested in learning about Hispanic Serving Institutions, sense of belonging, and related topics, b) interested in data collection and analysis in an educational context, c) willing to develop their written and oral communication skills, and d) have the ability to plan and maintain a schedule e) interested in the success of all students at Texas A&M.
Description:
In this project, students will have the opportunity to promote and build knowledge on what a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) is about, particularly in terms of student perceptions. This project consists of interviewing both undergraduate and graduate students at Texas A&M about HSIs, their experience at an HSI, ways they have felt served by the institution, and sense of belonging. Student researchers will conduct interviews, transcribe them, process data, and/or aid in the writing process.
