Description:

The main focus of this project is the implementation of non-chemical weed control tactics into Texas row crops. We will test two novel technologies: directed energy and electrical weed control. Directed energy uses high-energy wavelengths of light to damage plants and seeds. Electrical weed control involves subjecting plants to lethal voltages of electricity. Both projects are cutting-edge technologies within the field of weed science. Students will have the opportunity to grow and manage plants in the greenhouse, test this technology on drones and autonomous robots, assist in applying treatments, and help with data collection. My main goal with the Aggie Research Program is for YOU TO LEARN. I do not just want you to do long hours of labor and not gain any new skills or knowledge. I am very flexible on work hours and will make sure we take time to teach you new skills along the way. This project is very broad and will teach you a wide range of skills, including plant science, biology, ecology, robotics, and more! If you are interested in any of these disciplines and are considering graduate school, I will ensure you come away more prepared and skillful for the future! |
