Team Needs:

Mandatory: Completion of introductory microbiology and lab with a passing grade. Desired: Experienced with micropipettors, pipetting robots, DNA extractions, PCR, plant cultivation in greenhouse/growth chambers, microbial media preparation and culturing, bioinformatics (Linux command line, Usearch, QIIME, R, Vegan, etc.). |
Description:
|
This project involves microbiome studies on plant/microbe interactions with native and invasive plants, on environmental microbial impacts due to confined animal feeding operations (particularly with regard to converting dairy waste to biochar for agricultural uses), and other impacts on environmental microbiomes from anthropogenic activities. Project activities will include sample collection, preparation of DNA sequencing libraries, and bioinformatic analysis of massively parallel sequencing data to understand microbial community dynamics. |
