Special Opportunities:
Candidates admitted into our research team will have the opportunity to learn mammalian and bacterial cell culture techniques, immunoassays (flow cytometry, ELISAs, among others), molecular biology (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR). Also, there might be an opportunity to become a full member of the research group and present research findings at conferences such as TAMU Student Research Week
Team Needs:
Our team is looking for candidates eager to learn, organized, team player, and reliable. Background in immunology, microbiology, and previous laboratory experience are desirable but not required.
Description:
This project focuses in understanding the innate immune response generated by the intracellular bacterium Rhododoccus equi. Our hypothesis is that R. equi exposure induces trained immunity, improving innate immune response. To address that question we will perform experiments including epigenetic and functional analysis of immune cells.
