Explore what it looks like to translate public health solutions like community gardening and nutrition education into consumer action. Gain practical skills and experience in your field such as program development, public speaking, and peer mentorship
Team Needs:
Mandatory: Junior or senior classification; Student in the Nutrition or Horticulture department Requested, but not required: Prior gardening/horticulture experience; Experience in nutrition education development and delivery, or interest in developing these skills further; Currently taking or have already taken NFSC 430 or HORT 335
Description:
Partnering with the First Year Eats program, our research aims to explore the role of nutrition and horticulture education in the development of awareness regarding community food security, residential food gardening, and sustainability. Upper-level undergraduate students from the Nutrition and Horticulture departments have the opportunity to participate in conducting this research by contributing field notes while also gaining hands-on program development and teaching experience through the delivery and observation of horticulture and nutrition education events
